Learn CSS Variables by Building a City Skyline - Step 44

Tell us what’s happening: I’m struggling with one specific check. It’s saying : You should use the background on .bb1d. I’ve tried removing the variables, I’ve tried the way in the step before and nothing seems to be working.

orange is not a variable you have so this can’t be right

Remove the var and around brackets from the orange.

That worked. Thanks so much! Okay, so just so I understand in the future, was it basically saying ‘hey, make the orange the main color and these two as variables’. If that’s the case, perhaps the instructions should be updated to make it clearer?

orange is one of the named colors available in css, while the others are the variables you have created in previous steps, look at the :root selector to know if it’s a variable: it’s a variable and you need to use var to extract the value if it’s listed there
