# Learn Functional Programming by Building a Spreadsheet - Step 35

### Tell us what’s happening:

It is asking me for a character class in the capture group, ad that character class has to match A through J

const evalFormula = (x, cells) => {
const idToText = id => cells.find(cell => cell.id === id).value;
const rangeRegex = /([A-J])([1-9]\d*):([A-J])([1-9]\d*)/gi;
}

? average([sorted[middle], sorted[middle + 1]])
: sorted[Math.ceil(middle)];
}

}

const charRange = (start, end) => range(start.charCodeAt(0), end.charCodeAt(0)).map(code => String.fromCharCode(code));

I don’t understand why you have all of that code in the pattern when the only thing the instructions asked you to add was the `A-J` character class in a capture group? Is this question really for step 35?

Well, I started simple, then kept trying and no way to pass, tried several options already…Don’t know what else to do…

I would reset the step to get the original JS back and then only do exactly what the instructions ask and no more. I’ll give you a hint, you’ve done what the instructions asked, you just added a lot of other stuff in there that shouldn’t be in there.
