Learn Functional Programming by Building a Spreadsheet - Step 88

hi!

the instructions asking you: Now your applyFunction needs to return a result. Return the result of calling the .replace() method on str2 . Pass your functionCall regex and an empty callback.

you did not tried anything. what do you not understand?

  const noHigh = highPrecedence(str);
  const infix = /([\d.]+)([+-])([\d.]+)/;
  const str2 = infixEval(noHigh, infix);
  const functionCall = /([a-z0-9]*)\(([0-9., ]*)\)(?!.*\()/i;
  const toNumberList = args => args.split(",").map(parseFloat);
  const apply = (fn, args) => spreadsheetFunctions[fn.toLowerCase()](toNumberList(args));
 return str2.replace(functionCall, (match, fn, args) => apply(fn, args));
};

this is my code but what am i missing?

Edit: you did not need to add any other functions. just follow the instructions. the istructions did not asked to add the above arguments and apply function.

you need to Pass only your functionCall regex and an empty callback function to .replace()

  const noHigh = highPrecedence(str);
  const infix = /([\d.]+)([+-])([\d.]+)/;
  const str2 = infixEval(noHigh, infix);
  const functionCall = /([a-z0-9]+)\(([0-9., ]*)\)(?!.*\()/i;
  return str2.replace(functionCall, () => {});
};

is this what you mean cause it is still not working

you seem to have erased some code that you need in this step.
Please click reset to restore the original code and retry adding the return statement only.
