I cannot seem to add a target attribute with the value _blank to the anchor’s (a) opening tag so that the link opens in new tab

The ‘target’ is the attribute, and the “_blank” is its value. The rule for adding an attribute to any html element is as follows:

<element attribute="value"> ...

You should add the attribute and its value into the element’s opening tag.
