Link to the challenge:

You must delete the </a> and replace it after alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back.">.

Your Alt text is part of img element, it is use for screen reader and to make it clickable you must wrap all of the element inside anchor tag (a) which is the closing tag of a must be the last one.

Next time you should only create one thread regarding your issue. It is not allowed to create multiple thread on the same issue.

it keeps on saying there is an extra a tag, please help me identify it and remove it

It may be weird, but it’s actually failing because you have written broken tags

A tag starts with < and ends with >, there can't be two consecutive <or two consecutive>`

Look what you have here instead: < < > >. The closing anchor tag </a> can’t be put inside the image tag

You must delete the </a> and write it after the <img /> tag.

EX:

<a href="link.com"> <img src="an-image.jpg" /> </a>
