It’s asking me to add a type element with the value being " text " but I don’t quite understand what it means ?

Create a text field to get text input from a user by adding the type attribute with the value text to the input element.

The element you are creating is input, not type.

type is an attribute of the element.

Line should look like this but in between the angle brackets (some call them the less-than and greater-than signs):
input type=“text”
Took me a while to figure out as well.
