It should be this way; No Copyright - freeCodeCamp.org.
The text, "No Copyright - " should not be part of anchor(a)…

I’ve done:

<a=href="https://www.freecodecamp.org" No Copyright-freeCodeCamp.org </a>

but;

Test

Sorry, your code does not pass. Hang in there.

Hint

Your anchor (a) element should be nested within the footer element. Make sure to add an opening tag and closing tag for the anchor (a) element.

I’ve edited your code for readability. When you enter a code block into a forum post, please precede it with a separate line of three backticks and follow it with a separate line of three backticks to make it easier to read.

You can also use the “preformatted text” tool in the editor (</>) to add backticks around text.

See this post to find the backtick on your keyboard.
Note: Backticks (`) are not single quotes (').

i think you are misunderstanding what this step wants from you.

You are shown this line of text

No Copyright - freecodecamp.org

and what they want is for you to turn the last word into a link like this

No Copyright - freecodecamp.org

(the last word will become blue to show it is a link)

So make your anchor tag such that only that last word is clickable, not the whole text. (you may want to restart the step to start fresh with the original text)

It should be done this way; No copyright- <.anchor>freeCodeCamp.org</.anchor>…
…Note: don’t forget to put the hyperlink in the anchor opening tag

    No Copyright - <a href="freeCodeCamp.org"> </a>

So what am I doing wrong ? The hint tells me : The link’s text should be freeCodeCamp.org . You have either omitted the text or have a typo.

look at the preview pane.
It used to say
No Copyright - freeCodeCamp.org

and now after you change it , it says
No Copyright -

(correct?)

You need to make the last word into a link without erasing it. So the end result is
No Copyright - freeCodeCamp.org

(this is very similar to what you did back in step 12 of the cat photo app when you turned the words into a link)

Your anchor (a ) element should be nested within the footer element. Make sure to add an opening tag and closing tag for the anchor (a ) element.

This is my code and what I’ve been getting. I’m stumped please help me

remove the = between the a and the href as it doesn’t belong there

  <a href="https://freeCodeCamp.org">freeCodeCamp.org</a>

Hint

Your anchor (a) element should have an href attribute with the value https://www.freecodecamp.org. You may have omitted the attribute/value, or have a typo.

Sorry for being so bothersome, I can’t understand what I’m doing wrong.
I’ve even gone back to step 12 but still can’t get it.

can you paste all the code in your footer element?

also try coping the URL exactly including the using lowercase letters etc. (copy and paste with a mouse to make sure it is exactly the same)

<footer>
  <p>
  <a href="https://freeCodeCamp.org">freeCodeCamp.org</a>
  </p>
</footer>

This is all I have between the opening and closing footers

looks like you deleted the text that was there at the start.

Try to Restart Step and this will restore the text. Then add your anchor element without removing the words "No Copyright - "

    No Copyright - <a href="https://www.freeCodeCamp.org"</a>

Hint

The link’s text should be freeCodeCamp.org. You have either omitted the text or have a typo.

This is maddening…

your link is wrong now.

Look at your previous work here:

this was correct, but now your link is missing characters
