Challenge: Learn HTML by Building a Cat Photo App - Step 64

Link to the challenge:

Reset the step. In the existing sentence between the ‘p’ tags, surround only the text http://freeCodeCamp.org with anchor tags.

<p>Text <a href="url">text</a></p>

This is guidance.

text? would the url be where both text places are or is it literally just text?

i tried to do what i understood from what you said and it still says its wrong so i am not sure i understood what you meant

The following is what you get in this challenge by default:

 <p>No Copyright - freeCodeCamp.org</p>

Your task is to surround the existing text freeCodeCamp.org above with the anchor tags:

...<a href="URL">the existing text</a>...

The URL is https://www.freecodecamp.org

im not sure its still confusing to me im going to take the rest of the day incase im just overwhelming myself and missing somthing here but honestly if it remains this difficult for me i dont think it would be a good idea to continue i am having fun but i seem to run into these issues almost every challenge at this point

Take a break. Don’t hurry. It takes time to first understand things and then to use them properly in your own code. It is a process, not a race…

One thing you can do is look at similar examples that you have already done. For example, you turned the words “cat photo” into a link in previous steps. Do you remember doing that? This is what you did:

<p>See more <a target="_blank" href="https://freecatphotoapp.com">cat photos</a> in our gallery.</p>

Do you see how you just wanted to turn the words “cat photos” in that sentence into a link so you put the opening a tag right in front of those words and the closing a tag just after those words? That’s how you turn something into a link.

So if you want to turn only freeCodeCamp.org into a link then you would do the same thing.

Both @DobarBREND and @bbsmooth have provided excellent guidance.

However, if you are still stuck, you may wish to take a look at the following article on how to turn images and text into links. It has examples too.

Happy coding!

i have taken everyone’s advice but it give me the same error i have spent a few hours now trying like i have said in my first message i am starting to think coding isnt for me i have way to many struggles in understanding the basics i thank everyone for there help and aplogize for wasting everones time

If you are still having issues then you’ll want to post your most recent HTML in here so we can see what you did and give you the appropriate help.

To display your code in here you need to wrap it in triple back ticks. On a line by itself type three back ticks. Then on the first line below the three back ticks paste in your code. Then below your code on a new line type three more back ticks. The back tick on my keyboard is in the upper left just above the Tab key and below the Esc key. You may also be able to use Ctrl+e to automatically give you the triple back ticks while you are typing in the this editor and the cursor is on a line by itself. Alternatively, with the cursor on a line by itself, you can use the </> button above the editor to add the triple back ticks.

I will try, again. Hope this will help you @gaulton9!

https://www.freecodecamp.org is what you want to have as the href value.

Here is what the step begins with for you to work with.

<p>No Copyright - freeCodeCamp.org</p>

I am going to suggest you ignore the first part of the statement, and only focus on the

The instructions state to enclose this part of the statement within the anchor opening and closing tags to turn it into a link.

The anchor should begin after No Copyright - and should have the attribute href and its value of https://www.freecodecamp.org . The closing anchor should be exactly where and how you have it placed.

As an example: Using other random value and text. I hope this helps. You are so very close to passing it.
