Your alt attribute should have an = sign after it to connect it to its value.
Also the alt attribute should come right after the src attribute with a space in between them as attributes go in the opening tag of your element. So delete the extra closing tag you have after your src attribute and leave the one that is after your last attribute.
Ex:

<img src="catphoto:file/" alt="a picture of a cat"</img>
