Learn HTML by Building a Cat Photo app

<a<img src="https://cdn.freecodecamp.org/curriculum/cat-photo-app/relaxing-cat.jpg"</a> href=https://freecatphotoapp.com

They give me this hint: You should have an img element with an src value of https://cdn.freecodecamp.org/curriculum/cat-photo-app/relaxing-cat.jpg . You may have accidentally deleted it.

I don#t get what they want °°

Please post a link to the step you are on.

This is not a valid anchor opening tag. Please review step 10 and maybe 11 too

I’ve fully lost the plot now :frowning: I went back to step 10, then finished 11 and now I am stuck at 12 again. Before I got it, but suddenly I can’t.

      <a href="https://freecatphotoapp.com">link to cat pictures</a>

The task suggest to wrap the anchor around the words “cat photos”

Invalid anchor element:

Valid anchor element:

Can you tell me what is different between these two?

i believe <a href=https://freecatphotosapp.com>link to cat pictures</a>

is for writing a text that also operates as a link to a page

It is. How is that different from the other one you wrote?

the other one does not contain a webpage that the link should lead to

Yes… Other than the fact that one is right and one is wrong is different between the two?

Comparing code that you know is good to code that you know is bad is an important debugging skill.

I know it wasn’t correct. I am here to get help.

Can you see this question at all? Can you please try to answer it?

I’m not going to write the answer for you. I’m trying to help you write the answer.

Give me a few minutes to figure it out please. I don’t want you to give me the answer. I want to learn.

I believe the other one is only the word cat photo surounded by the anchor opening/closing tag.

Pay attention to the differences in the use of angled brackets and also the href

Not quite.

Let’s look at just the invalid opening tag:

and the good opening tag:

I see three differences

  1. You don’t have a > on the invalid tag

  2. You don’t have a href attribute on the invalid tag

  3. You have the anchor text inside of the invalid tag instead of after it

ok, yes I can follow. It was missing a lot of parts.

Why I went the way I did is:

In the task it says: “In the text of your p element, turn the words cat photos into a link to https://freecatphotoapp.com by adding opening and closing anchor (a ) tags around these words.”

Sure, but you don’t turn words into a link by putting them in the middle of an opening anchor tag.

Here the words ‘link to cat pictures’ are the text in the link.

yeeeeassss I got it, finally.
