i do have only 1 space between the “a” and the “{” even though it looks like more here. no extensions or ad blockers active either. I have also tried doing it on OperaGX, edge, chrome, and mozilla. I also just tried what you suggested but nothing has worked

Your solution works from my end. Please try one of the following steps to move forward.

Click on the “Restart Step” button and force a refresh of your page with CTRL + F5 if you’re on Windows then try to paste the code in again. On other systems, please follow the instructions here.

or - Try the step in incognito or private mode.

or - Disable any/all extensions that interface with the freeCodeCamp website (such as Dark Mode, Ad Blockers, or Spellcheckers), and set your browser zoom level to 100%. Both of these factors can cause tests to fail erroneously.

or - Ensure your browser is up-to-date or try a different browser.

I hope one of these will work for you.

unfortunately, ive tried everything you suggested and still no luck. ive tried 4 different browsers. made sure spellcheck was off i have no active extensions, dark mode, or ad blockers. the browser zoom is at 100% i tried hitting restart step then pressing crtl+f5 since i am using a windows machine. ive never had this issue before using this site either  only thing i can think of that has changed since earlier or even yesterday is i updated windows today but thats it. ill try to restart my PC and see if it will help

Update: restarting the PC didn’t help. I even tried clearing my cache because i ran out of resonable things to do to try to get this to clear.

not sure what else to offer as the code works exactly as you have it from my end.
I would say just move on to the next step in this case.

i found the problem. its because i had a theme set for my windows account and that was preventing me from seeing most of the colors in a project and it was what was stopping me from completing this lesson. it is complete and i am happy <3

Can you explain what you did exactly to fix it?

absolutely! so i went into my window settings, entered the accessibility menu then selected contrast themes, went to the drop down menu that had the current “theme” selected and picked “none” at the top of the dropdown menu. and it was fixed that easy lol.
