Learn Introductory JavaScript by Building a Pyramid Generator - Step 102

Tell us what’s happening:

I moved the -= operator in different places on the code, but it’s still not working.

Your code so far

const character = "#";
const count = 8;
const rows = [];

function padRow(rowNumber, rowCount) {
  return " ".repeat(rowCount - rowNumber) + character.repeat(2 * rowNumber - 1) + " ".repeat(rowCount - rowNumber);
}

// TODO: use a different type of loop
/*for (let i = 1; i <= count; i++) {
  rows.push(padRow(i, count));
}*/

/*while (rows.length < count) {
  rows.push(padRow(rows.length + 1, count));
}*/

// User Editable Region

for (let i -= count; i > 0; i = i - 1) {
  rows.push(padRow(i, count));
}

// User Editable Region

let result = ""

for (const row of rows) {
  result = result + "\n" + row;
}

console.log(result);

for (let i -= count; i > 0; i = i - 1)

This is wrong because the first section is where you declare the variable and where it begins. The last section is the incrementor/iterator where you control how it changes.

You can see how the last section decreases i by 1. Replace that with the subraction assignment to do the same thing in a different way.

I did that first in the start and it said it was wrong. I tried again and it still says it’s wrong. i changed the last section to i -= 1

“I know Kung Fu.”
“Show me.”

Can you please share your code?

:face_with_monocle: Watch your spacing…

Look at this commented out code:

// TODO: use a different type of loop
/*for (let i = 1; i <= count; i++) {
  rows.push(padRow(i, count));
}*/
for (let i = count; i > 1; i -= 1) {
  rows.push(padRow(i, count));
}

Reset the step, you’ve changed the condition (middle part, the limit)

Wow, lol, that easy. Thanks!
