Learn Introductory JavaScript by Building a Pyramid Generator - Step 53

Tell us what’s happening:

for some reason the code don’t pass the test. is it something wrong or is just the spaces or uppercase words… ???
any help?
function padRow(name) {
const test = “Testing”;
return + name;
}
console.log(test);
Your function should declare a test variable.
You should initialise test with the value “Testing”. Don’t forget the semi-colon.
// tests completed
// console output
ReferenceError: test is not defined

Your code so far

const character = "#";
const count = 8;
const rows = [];

// User Editable Region

function padRow(name) {
  const test = "Testing";
  return  + name;
}
console.log(test);
Your function should declare a test variable.

// tests completed
// console output

// User Editable Region

const call = padRow("CamperChan");
console.log(call);

for (let i = 0; i < count; i = i + 1) {
  rows.push(character.repeat(i + 1))
}

let result = ""

for (const row of rows) {
  result = result + "\n" + row;
}

console.log(result);

Hi @footroot

Remove that console.log to pass the tests and continue.

Make sure you only modify the code the instructions ask.

Happy coding

The original return statement is:

  return character + name;

You must have changed it by mistake:

Aslo, the instruction asked:

Remove that console.log to pass the tests and continue.

So remove it.

Then, below your function, try to log test to the console. You will see an error because it is not defined outside of the function’s local scope. Remove that console.log to pass the tests and continue.

function padRow(name) {
  return character + name;

}

that is the initial code of the lesson.
There is no console .log on it so I can’t remove it and that’s what it was driving me mad.
Thank you
