# Learn Recursion by Building a Decimal to Binary Converter - Step 1

### Tell us what’s happening:

I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong here. It keeps telling me, “You should use the document.getElementById() method on the #number-input” element. I checked everything multiple times. I don’t understand what I keep doing wrong.

I think the problem is the # you have used.
Try without it. (You may be getting confused between getElementById and querySelector which work differently)

Remove the “#” inside the getElementById(), like this:

const convertBtn = document.getElementById(“converter-btn”);
and check again
