There is a structure to the code given in the example.

Also the name of the variable is number

What you posted would be an error.
The request block shows you an example

variable_name = value

Notice that variable_name is the name of the variable, then there is the assignment operator = and finally there’s the value assigned to it.
If the request would say:

Create a variable called number and assign the value 25 to your new variable.

Then you would write:

number = 25

But the assignment in this step says to be 5, and that’s what you need to do.
