You appear to have created this post without editing the template. Please edit your post to Tell us what’s happening in your own words.

You should call .find() on the alphabet variable and pass text[0] to the method.

Call a method on something means that you need to write something.method_name().

Pass something_else to the method means you should write something_else between the parentheses.

still dont understand, here is my new code

text = 'Hello World'

shift = 3

alphabet = 'abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz'

text[0] = find()'alphabet

Please, tell me exactly what you do not understand in my previous answer and I’ll try to clarify.

I’ve edited your code for readability. When you enter a code block into a forum post, please precede it with a separate line of three backticks and follow it with a separate line of three backticks to make it easier to read.

You can also use the “preformatted text” tool in the editor (</>) to add backticks around text.

See this post to find the backtick on your keyboard.
Note: Backticks (`) are not single quotes (').
