text = ‘Hello Zaira’
custom_key = ‘python’
def vigenere(message, key, direction):
key_index = 0
alphabet = ‘abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz’
encrypted_text = ‘’
for char in message.lower():
# Append space to the message
if char == ’ ':
encrypted_text += char
else:
# Find the right key character to encode
key_char = key[key_index % len(key)]
key_index += 1
# Define the offset and the encrypted letter
offset = alphabet.index(key_char)
index = alphabet.find(char)
new_index = offset * key_index
encrypted_text += alphabet[new_index]
return encrypted_text
#encryption = vigenere(text, custom_key)
#print(encryption)
Hello I am facing this new problem stating " All you need to do is multiply the `offset` by the `direction` in the `new_index` assignment" can someone assist me in this regard?

Please open a new topic for this, thanks!

If you have a question about a specific challenge as it relates to your written code for that challenge and need some help, click the Ask for Help button located on the challenge (it looks like a question mark). This button only appears if you have tried to submit an answer at least three times.

The Ask for Help button will create a new topic with all code you have written and include a link to the challenge also. You will still be able to ask any questions in the post before submitting it to the forum.

Thank you.

" Inside the `for` loop, before printing the current character,"

Inside the “for loop” means after the `for` statement.

`print` is inside the “for” loop.
