Your code so far

text = ‘Hello World’
shift = 3
alphabet = ‘abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz’

for char in text.lower():
index = alphabet.find(char)
new_index = index + shift
new_char = alphabet[new_index]
print(‘char:’, char, ‘new_char:’, new_char)

Hi @zoe.brandt2102

Replace the hyphen in the string with a single space.

Happy coding

thanks for your reply.
replacing any of the hyphens results in errors and adding a space before the hyphen and after the text 'char: ’ and 'new_char: ’ simply adds a space in the ouput. Where exactly in the code am I supposed to add a single space or/and remove a hyphen?

This string:

Happy coding
