This is correct but it’s not what is required. You need to do literally what instructions say:

You should assign encrypted_text + alphabet[new_index] to your encrypted_text variable.

so does this mean I need to have

encrypted_text = encrypted text + alphabet[new_index]

That’s the code that’s already there. The instructions say to replace something with “+=”.

What am I missing here?
