Learn String Manipulation by Building a Cipher - Step 40

Tell us what’s happening:

I can’t figure out why my code does not pass.
for char in text.lower():
print(char == ’ ')
index = alphabet.find(char)
new_index = index + shift
encrypted_text += alphabet[new_index]
print(‘char:’, char, ‘encrypted text:’, encrypted_text)

Your code so far

# User Editable Region

text = 'Hello World'
shift = 3
alphabet = 'abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz'
encrypted_text = ''

for char in text.lower():
    index = alphabet.find(char)
    new_index = index + shift
    encrypted_text += alphabet[new_index]
    print('char:', char, 'encrypted text:', encrypted_text)

for char in text.lower():
    print(char == ' ')
    index = alphabet.find(char)
    new_index = index + shift
    encrypted_text += alphabet[new_index]
    print('char:', char, 'encrypted text:', encrypted_text)

Hi @Francis3 !

Welcome to the forum!

It looks like you wrote the loop twice.

I would reset the lesson and try again with just the one loop. Then add the print statement to that loop and it should pass
