Learn String Manipulation by Building a Cipher - Step 41

Tell us what’s happening:

I’ve added an if statement at the beginning of my for loop to check if the character char is a space (if char == ’ ':). Inside this if block, I have the line print(‘space’) (indented). However, the system is still giving me the error: ‘You should print the string ‘space’ inside your new if statement.’ My code looks correct based on the instructions for Step 41.

Your code so far

for char in text.lower():
    if char == ' ':
        print('space')

    new_index = index + shift
    encrypted_text += alphabet[new_index]
    print('char:', char, 'encrypted text:', encrypted_text)
