Learn String Manipulation by Building a Cipher - Step 49

Tell us what’s happening:

I replaced the variable names in function body except the encrypted text and it’s not working.

Your code so far

/* User Editable Region */

text = 'Hello Zaira'
shift = 3

def caesar(message, offset):
    alphabet = 'abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz'
    encrypted_text = ''

    for char in message.lower():
        if char == ' ':
            encrypted_text += char
        else:
            index = alphabet.find(char)
            new_index = (index + offset) % len(alphabet)
            encrypted_text += alphabet[new_index]
    print('plain message:', message)
    print('encrypted text:', encrypted_text)

caesar()

/* User Editable Region */
