Looking for Portfolio Advice

Hello,

I just finished fleshing out my first personal portfolio site, besides the front end curriculum challenge that I completed over three years ago (oh wow! time has flown by ). Once I had finished most of the curriculum way back then, I set off to build a project that had brought me to freeCodeCamp in the first place (more details on that journey in my portfolio if anyone is interested). Now I am seeking some guidance and feedback.

  • Honest critique of my portfolio site - I have been muddling my way through finding my own “designer eye”. I realize I only have one project posted, its the only one I have besides my fcc stuff from 3+ years ago and I feel those projects do not represent where I am now on this coding journey. I planned on starting some other projects once I got my portfolio site up and running.

  • Where to focus from here? - tldr: I spent too many years developing my only portfolio piece and I am worried my lack of web tech projects will hinder my web tech prospects------ I gained a lot of skills and fell in love with app/game development in Unity. Shortly after finishing my app in January of this year, I started peeking around at the job market for this type of work. Needless to say, the headlines surrounding the game developer space and its volatility coupled with the ever present developer accounts of the workplace environment has, at the least, made me very nervous to keep developing my skills in that stack/field. In fact I have basically turned heel. I am 34yo with a family, and those risks are just to high for me at this point in my life - although I may return to some game jams after I get my foot in the door somewhere in a different part of the tech industry .

Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

A repost since my post in the “career advice” was not fruitful.

I would rate it s 8/10. And what is the 4th and 5th logo in your toolbelt

Hey thanks for the feed back! 4th is NodeJS and 5th is Mongoose.

Hello,
your portfolio is beautiful and well crafted, I really like the design, especially the colors.
One thing I can suggest to make it even better is to make the call to action functions more apparent, here I am talking about the Let's Talk button and the links to your other social media accounts, you added them at the bottom of your website which is fine but not very practical because if someone is looking to contact you for example to hire you, he will not probably bother looking for your contact form by scrolling down, he will just move on to the next one so adding another Let's Talk button at your name will probably be more practical and beneficial.
You can also make the social media icons fixed at the side of the page even when the user scrolls so it is easier to find them
I hope you find this helpful

I appreciate you taking the time to share that with me. I actually couldn’t agree more! I love it. I am going to make a few changes today.

Looks fantastic, I like how the icons disappear when you reach the footer and come back once the user scrolls back to the top.

Your personality comes through really well but the design is a bit dull

Thanks for the feed back. I definitely need to work on my design eye, hopefully I’ll get honed in on it the more I build and explore!
