Monthly Event of Feeling Overwhelmed

This is just a vent, but every once in a while I hit a roadblock and feel overwhelmed with the amount of things I need to learn (I think) to get a web-dev job.

I learnt React & Express and currently practicing building fullstack apps (with challenges from Frontend Mentor, devchallenges). Lately there’s so many stuffs to learn like styled-components, authentication strategies (local, JWT, OAuth), how to use Firebase, Supabase, Docker, Next, TypeScript… Not to mention I haven’t touched the Interview Prep section with all the algorithms and LeetCode-like problems.

And to top it off, I feel like nothing is gonna stick long in my head. Like learning JavaScript was tough, but it sticks, because I made it through, because I know this thing is a must if you want to get to the end goal. But all these technologies are just different/advanced ways to tackle the same problem, and it’s like I have to get familiar with all of them to get one foot in the door, so few months from now I’m gonna inevitably forget 50% of what I learnt today.

I’m not familiar with my area’s job market either, so there isn’t a clear picture of what exactly I should strive for first, or am I even ready, or am I overthinking it.

Anyways, this is just a vent. Thank you for attending my TED talk :joy::+1:
