New to coding and having web layout display and layout issues

Hello everyone. My name is Cris and I am new to coding. I have a question. How come our projects in the responsive web development module look well spaced in the coding preview. But, If I go ahead and use the same html and css files on an emty domain, the spacing becomes distorted and difficult to read.
