i cant seem to get my github website to work, its showing 404?

That’s because you don’t have a GitHub repo for your page yet. Check out [https://guides.github.com/features/pages/](https://guides.github.com/features/pages/) for how to get going with your website

it seems to work here [https://ngas-wakefield.github.io/ngas.github.io/](https://ngas-wakefield.github.io/ngas.github.io/)  
but i only want it as [ngas.github.io](http://ngas.github.io)

Alright, I got your problem. You’d need to rename your repo [here](https://github.com/ngas-wakefield/ngas.github.io) to [ngas-wakefield.github.io](http://ngas-wakefield.github.io) because Github only allows `username.github.io` where username is your GitHub username. To quote Github’s documentation for the same,

> If the first part of the repository doesn’t exactly match your username, it won’t work, so make sure to get it right.
