There is a bug in this test, what you have done is correct, you can skip this test

Thanks been on this for ages. Thinking I am going mad. Will I still be able to complete my certificate without it? Can I hunt the bug?

Instead of suggesting workarounds, it is better for the OP to just wait and come back later when the tests have been fixed to complete the challenge as was originally intended.
