Not recognizing red color change

Can someone please help, I can’t move on.
The instructions are to change the h2 to red. I do this (<h2 style="color:red;">CatPhotoApp</h2>) and the heading does change to be red but it does not let me pass the lesson. Instead it reads
" Your h2 element should have a style declaration.
Your h2 element should have color set to red .
Your style declaration should end with a ; ."

What should I be doing instead? thank you!!

  **Your code so far**

Challenge: Change the Color of Text

Link to the challenge:

@ayela there’s only one thing missing & that’s you should add the text catphotoapp to your h2 tag again...The challenge only requires you to style your h2 element turning it to red...
Your code goes like this<h2 style=“color: red;”</h2>

That code you provided is malformed.

However, please do not write answers for users. Thank you.

What do you mean malformed ???

This works for me. Have you checked that your browser is not using an extension that modifies your CSS?

Hi Ayela,

Welcome to the community!

When I copy and paste your code into mine it works fine. So I suggest you just refresh the page and try again - sometimes it goes a bit funny!

Good luck,
Clare

You have again made your post literally unreadable by incorrect use of a code block. I have edited your post.

Malformed as in the code you posted has a syntactic error.

What’s the syntax error in there…Where do I have the wrong code ???

The opening h2 tag is not closed. You posted malformed code that introduced a bug not present in the original code by the OP.

What you saying....My opening h2 tag is closed I still don’t get your point yet???
When I insert the same code into the test challenge it passes me

This is malformed. You introduced a bug not present in the original posted code.

Please stop using code blocks for text. It’s annoying and hard to read. Also, half of the time you are doing it wrong and making the text disappear.

I just don’t get your point I just checked again I have my opening h2 tag closed which you said it wasn’t closed...I need you to prove that ??

Right here… In this code you typed… The one I have quoted… The opening h2 tag is not closed.

If you say my code is wrong let me see yours...

No need. OP’s code is fully correct.

You have two left angle brackets and one right angle bracket. That is a syntax problem.

If you aren’t sure about how to open and close an HTML tag, you may want to review before trying to help other users.

I don’t have to argue further with you because you sulk…The challenge only needs you to change the style of your h2 element which starts with an opening h2 bracket and ends with a closing /> I have only 2 tags in my h2 element and you don’t need to add the catphotoapp again because h2 already stands for catphotoapp that you’re styling…What’s the big deal about this…I rest my case here !!!

Your post is literally impossible to read

Please stop misusing code blocks. Code blocks are for code, not plaintext. You are going out of your way to make it harder for people to understand you, which is impolite.

This explanation is very wrong. To verify this, try passing the challenge with the solution code you proposed. It is malformed syntax. You won’t see a correctly formatted h2 element.
