I am 34 years old Civil Engineer having experience of 9 years, looking to get in to Software Development and learning from fcc, youtube etc. from past 2 to 3 years but I think that I should join course with structured curriculum and live classes so that I can ask the doubts face to face. So, I am looking to course from crio.do platform, If anyone aware of this platform and if past alumnis are there then please suggest me should I join this course or not? Because there fees seems to be very high i.e. around INR 200000.
I am hesitant because first due my age, my educational background, I am married person having two kids and current job in non tech industry.
Please help me out with this should I choose my passion or not.
Same boat like me 3 years back when I was 40 LOL
Do NOT spend money on this platform.
-
I suggest continue with current job and join local bootcamp so that you will be with like minded people.
-
Spend few hours daily and more time on weekend, once you’re fully comfortable with learning and confident enough, then only leave current job.
Few other tips I shared yesterday with another person who is 40+
Let me know if you’ve further queries.
Thanks for the reply
I was looking platform only for job guarantee and mentorship promises but I am now looking to build projects myself.

Please note nobody can give you job guarantee and if somebody is saying then it’s fake.
Also note, it always nice to build projects together with other people. Do visit https://www.frontendmentor.io/, its community is awesome, it had helped me tremendously.
No one can answer this but you. This is not our life; it’s yours, so we can’t make life-changing choices on your behalf. We can answer any questions and try to address any doubts you have, but no one in this forum can answer this for you. Even if someone tries, I would be very cautious. Because again, it’s your life. If you do what someone else tells you to do and it doesn’t work out, then the only person who has to deal with those consequences is you. The person who is telling you won’t be affected at all. You need to sit down with your family and talk about the best move.
This 100%. There is no such thing as a guaranteed job. If, in the future, you do get a job offer, it’s important that you do your homework on who it is that is offering you a job. If you sign an agreement without 100% knowing what you are getting into, then you could end up screwing yourself.
Being an Indian as well, I can say we’ve got loads of peer and social pressure to do well ( ? ) and be part of rat race.
There are software engineers ( in India ) earning 10K INR per month to 10L+ INR per month as well.
But money shouldn’t be only motivation to join IT, many of my friends in 40s are fed up with their IT jobs but doing it as they need to give EMI for next X years and don’t know what else they can do.
I know some people in other fields earning much more than IT field e.g. a couple in Pune city sells pure ghee laddus and make 2 Cr+ INR each year ( revenue, 35 - 45% profit margin easily ) and I know them personally.
So please write down all options and take calculated decisions.
I highly recommend to read the book “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living”
