When I type the " it automatically adds the other ". This requires me to move to the arrow key right in order to add the > at the end. it is much faster for me to just add the second " myself and then just type the > so I don’t have to move my hand from the regular keyboard and back.
Hi @darrendiehl
Perhaps you need to give us more information about what you’re trying to achieve, your programming language, and the text editor(development environment) in which you’re working.
I believe he is talking about the HTML environment on the fCC main curriculum. I think he doesn’t like the automatic addition of a closing quotation mark when he presses an opening one. I know what he means, as this has bothered me too, although I have gotten used to it. It slows down adding attribute to HTML tags, although it’s not a big problem. You can probably understand him better with a visualization.
<html lang=“en”></html>
See how one must press the “>” key to add the closing bracket to the opening tag after the attribute? That’s what he means, I think.
Let me know, @darrendiehl, if I understood you correctly.

This isn’t obvious, but you don’t need to use arrow key. If you type "
again, the quote added automatically will be written over, instead of adding the third quote.
Oh, thx for that, @sanity ! That helps a lot.
@nickrg, yes that is exactly what I meant. @sanity, yes, thank you. That makes such a difference. When I had to reach for the arrow key , it would throw off the flow of my typing. Often when I would be returning my right hand to the home keys, they would be a bit off leading me to mistype the next thing. I had no idea that I could just type the closing quotation mark and it would make the last one go away.
