Positive Lookahead consecutive number format

I’m having difficulty understanding the logic behind the following sample code that would search for at least 2 consecutive numbers in the sampleWord string.

let sampleWord = "astronaut";
let pwRegex = /(?=\D*\d{2,})/;
let result = pwRegex.test(sampleWord);

When breaking down the Regex…
(?= ) is the positive lookahead
\D represents [^0-9]
“*” locates character matches zero or more times
\d represents [0-9]
{2,} is the quantity specifier for 2 or more

Why combine the \D and \d to search for digits if \D represents the opposite? I realize the code works, but I want to understand the logic.

I have tested your regular expression it gave me false .
what I know about positive lookahead is that ,it should be something before it for example
I want to match 1991a or 1991b so I want to match this number 1991 but it is necessary to be followed by a letter pr more I can write this expression

let regex=/1991(?=[a-z])/g;
let str="1991a";
let result =regex.test(str) // output true  also 1991bbbb is true or 1991c is true

?=\D*\d{2,} indicates that there has to be a non-digit preceding the 2 consecutive digits in the sampleWord.
so the sampleWord can not be “666satan” for example
