I’m new to coding and have a ton of ideas on projects.
One of my ideas is to create a live chat / “chat script” for my square space website that allows customers to chat live with me on a paid subscription basis. I am in a service industry / consulting.
Q:
What coding languages do I need to learn for this?
Do I need a Backend framework?
Do I need any external plug-ins?
What is the difficulty level?
What resources do you suggest?

I did more research and it does look like the easy solution is to subscribe to a live chat provider then add the script to my code on squarespace. At some point I will want to create this on my own so any feedback is appreciated.
have you tried looking into “square space” marketplace for this kind of “plugins/widget”?!

You need to understand your requirements first before building a live chat application.
How many chat windows will be available for users?
What kind of integration will you do?
The subscription setup is also required because if you are running a business, then it could be either freemium or premium revenue generation model.
There are some third-party tools also that will help you.
So, first jot down these pointers to calculate the entire budget of the applications’ development.
