Record Collection 2022

Tell us what’s happening:
Only the first :
updateRecords(recordCollection, 5439, “artist”, “ABBA”)
&
last:
updateRecords(recordCollection, 1245, “albumTitle”, “Riptide”)
runs are succeeding. I am totally lost

  **Your code so far**

// Setup
const recordCollection = {
2548: {
  albumTitle: 'Slippery When Wet',
  artist: 'Bon Jovi',
  tracks: ['Let It Rock', 'You Give Love a Bad Name']
},
2468: {
  albumTitle: '1999',
  artist: 'Prince',
  tracks: ['1999', 'Little Red Corvette']
},
1245: {
  artist: 'Robert Palmer',
  tracks: []
},
5439: {
  albumTitle: 'ABBA Gold'
}
};

// Only change code below this line
function updateRecords(records, id, prop, value) {
if (prop !== "tracks" && value != "")
 {records[id][prop] = value;}

else if (prop == "tracks" && records[id].hasOwnProperty("tracks") == false)
{records[id][tracks] = value;}

else if (prop == tracks && value !== "")
{records[id][prop].push(value);}

else (value == "")
{delete records[prop];}
return records;
}

updateRecords(recordCollection, 5439, 'artist', 'ABBA');

Challenge: Record Collection

Link to the challenge:

I would suggest you start by formatting your code better.

  1. What is tracks?
records[id][tracks] = value;
(prop == tracks && value !== "")
  1. The value of the tracks object property should be an array.

  2. What should happen when value is an empty string?

  3. else does not take a condition. It is what happens when all the other conditions are not satisfied.
