Relational Database Certificate - Under Maintenance

I was about 80% percent of the way through the ‘Learn Bash by building a Boilerplate’ course in the Relational Database Certificate when I logged in and was told that the site was undergoing maintenance.

There are instruction for how to deploy the course locally, but I don’t want to lose my progress. Does anyone know how long it will be before the FCC version will be back up and running?

I guess most of us have no idea how long it will take.
But I’m just doing it locally and saving answers on the separate sheet.
What’s important is to keep the consistency rather than doing nothing.

Hi!
Do you know if there’s a way to convert the local version of the course into the online version so that we can earn a certificate?

Tl;dr: Not officially, and while there might be theoretical ways to jerry-rig your progress to automatically be redone online, its not worth it, and you’re better off redoing the progress manually or working on another cert in the meantime (not to mention that the Celestial Bodies course wants background research to get data to fill out the project if you don’t mind reading ahead a bit).

Longer answer:
Loading your local progress online is not supported in any official capacity (likely to prevent cheating). Combine that with how the online version doesn’t allow copy-pasting into the virtual terminal, and the only ways that it would be remotely possible to do something remotely close to uploading progress would be to record your inputs in a text file so you can retype them manually, or creating a macro that types in the expected inputs and progress forwarding for you… Unfortunately the first option would do little to save time, and the second would waste so much time that the only real justification would be for going on a tangential rabbit-hole into both macros and how the CodeRoad stuff works.

Thank you for the prompt reply L_GS!

I’ve managed to get the offline database projects going, but obviously I’d prefer to have some record of progress. So my situation is, I went through the Bash Boilerplate without a problem (finished it about 5 hours ago), but for hours now I can’t seem to load any course on CodeAlly. I get an address removed or relocated message. Did I exit the Virtual Machine inappropriately or is there some timed maintenance that goes on, perhaps daily?

It’s loading again. Perhaps maintenance is complete for now.

It isn’t loading for me. I’m still getting this message

In 4 hours I took it to completion and now I’m getting the same issue again. Couldn’t move to next course and not seeing any checkmarks for the Mario database.

Shouldn’t my progress have been recorded by that point? Maybe I’m missing something, as the interface seems pretty complicated.

My best guess right now is that the server goes down for maintenance fairly routinely lately, and unless I ensure the server is back up and running before closing my session then I risk losing my progress.

Update: my progress was saved, thankfully.

Are there any news on when the maintenance is gonna be finished? I would really like to get this specific certification.
