Thx for the heads up. I think that removing the videos from the website is beneficial. I get what you mean by ‘the collected data’ because I’m one of the people on this platform who didn’t use the videos and just skipped them, instead skimming the text content and code examples.
I just wanted to share a bit of feedback. When your courses had both videos and practical coding examples, it was honestly the best learning experience I’ve ever had online. The combination of watching and then immediately practicing made everything so much easier to understand and remember.
I completely understand that creating those videos takes a lot of time and effort, but I think that format was one of the key things that made FreeCodeCamp stand out from other platforms.
Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into helping people learn to code for free — it really makes a difference.
nowadays i guess you could easily make the videos from the transcripts with an AI.
I would really rather fCC did not get into the AI video making business, personally
have you tried the new interactive examples in the lessons?
You can see the visuals for the HTML and CSS and play around with the code in the lesson.
One of the reasons I love learning with freecodecamp is that the platform has 0 distractions. I learn code in the morning, and watching videos gives me too much stimuli.
I feel like watching tutorial videos gives me the feeling I am learning a lot, but what really makes me learn is testing and reproducing code myself.
Good decision.
