Review JavaScript Fundamentals by Building a Gradebook App - Step 3

Tell us what’s happening:

I can’t get hasPassingGrade function to return the data.
the data seems to be returning in the if function(statement).
maybe I’m just getting lazy…

Your code so far

function getAverage(scores) {
  let sum = 0;

  for (const score of scores) {
    sum += score;
  }

  return sum / scores.length;
}

function getGrade(score) {
  if (score === 100) {
    return "A++";
  } else if (score >= 90) {
    return "A";
  } else if (score >= 80) {
    return "B";
  } else if (score >= 70) {
    return "C";
  } else if (score >= 60) {
    return "D";
  } else {
    return "F";
  }
}

function hasPassingGrade(score) {
 let x =getGrade(score);

 // the if function is returning data
 if (x == "F"){
   // the return is the problem
  return x +"    "+ false;
 } else{
 return x +"    " + true;
}

}

console.log(hasPassingGrade(100));
console.log(hasPassingGrade(53));
console.log(hasPassingGrade(87));

I think you’ve misunderstood the requirements. The function is supposed to return true or false. That is, it is supposed to return a Boolean value, not a string value.

ok but the if statement would still be returning the data . so i will get rid of the grade.
you helped me on #1 thank you i read the help you gave to another person.
