Review JavaScript Fundamentals by Building a Gradebook App - Step 4

Tell us what’s happening:

my results are what is expected in my output but my code doesn’t pass.
I honestly couldn’t even hint at what I’m doing wrong, I really struggled to understand how to figure this out and had to use AI to help explain how functions and their return values can be used inside other functions.
I totally understand the logic of this function so I don’t see why it’s not a pass.
Sorry I can’t help you help me any further.

Your code so far

function getAverage(scores) {
  let sum = 0;

  for (const score of scores) {
    sum += score;
  }

  return sum / scores.length;
}

function getGrade(score) {
  if (score === 100) {
    return "A++";
  } else if (score >= 90) {
    return "A";
  } else if (score >= 80) {
    return "B";
  } else if (score >= 70) {
    return "C";
  } else if (score >= 60) {
    return "D";
  } else {
    return "F";
  }
}

function hasPassingGrade(score) {
  return getGrade(score) !== "F";
}

function studentMsg(totalScores, studentScore) {
  const average = getAverage(totalScores);
  const grade = getGrade(studentScore);
  const passFail = hasPassingGrade(studentScore) ? 'passed' : 'failed';

  return 'class average: ' + average + '. Your grade: ' + grade + '.' + ' You ' + passFail + ' the course.';
}
console.log(studentMsg([92, 88, 12, 77, 57, 100, 67, 38, 97, 89], 37));

You should pass grade to hasPassingGrade() here.

And do not forget to write Class not class. It can affect the challenge

omg the capitol C, I think this was it… I did change studentScore to grade but that actually breaks the code because (i think) I return the function of getGrade in the function hasPassingGrade.
Anyway it’s passed, I can relax, thank you!

Ohh correct sorry I did not see that. But I’m glad it passed, happy coding!
