Thank you for resending. I tried all of the suggestions The article offered and am still getting a light blue message. This time it is telling me I am still āoffline.ā Could someone please help me get this working again?
Thank you very much.
Iām assuming that after clearing all the data, you tried to log in again?
Yes. I finally figured it out. Logging in with github seemed to be the problem. Is there any way to log in with github that wonāt cause the server problem?
Logging in with GitHub works.
- The email on your GitHub account must be the same as the email address on your freeCodeCamp account.
- You will need to authorize freeCodeCamp to use your GitHub credentials.
This procedure does not work. There is no way to unauthorized and deauthorize github.
Have you tried the procedure outlined in this post: Two different user logins leads to the same user account
Usually with login issues its helpful to search the forum history.
Also, @Chris2020 please stop posting in old topics with unrelated posts.
Why be so snarky? Not being able to log in is very frustrated even without the attitude you seem to be projecting, which -by the way- is not helpful.
I apologize if I came across as snarky. I found information that may be helpful to you, so I shared the information and how I found it.
Was the information in that post useful?
Thanks. It would have been but I could not find the page or the setting that Ariel was referring toā¦Iām back to square one.
you can find it going to your github settings
in the menu to the left at the botton there is āApplicationsā, go there
from the three tabs choose āAughorized OAuth Appsā
here there is the list of apps in which you have used ālog in with githubā
I apologize but I am in my fcc profile page and cannot find my git hub settings.
you need to go in your github settings, in your github profile, at github.com
Found it and revoked fcc from it. Now what do I do to use it again without problems at the server (ie refusing to save my work)? Thanks.
You have already said that logging in with GitHub is what caused your problem and that you can log in without GitHub and use freeCodeCamp normally.
If you want to log in with GitHub, you can. Lots of us do.
Logging in with GitHub requires that your GitHub email address and freeCodeCamp address must be the same.
If the addresses are different, freeCodeCamp will try to create a new account when you log in with GitHub.
If you are getting an error when you log in with GitHub, it could be caused by a permission denial. When you try to log in via GitHub, you should be prompted to allow freeCodeCamp to connect to your GitHub account. You must authorize it. You should get an email from GitHub confirming the access permission. When you look at your OAuth Apps in GitHub, you should see freeCodeCamp listed.
Everything that you have describes indicates that the problem is with your process of logging in through GitHub, so either there is a problem with your GitHub credentials or your GitHub settings are not allowing freeCodeCamp to connect.
You donāt need to connect GitHub to freeCodeCamp. You can always log into freeCodeCamp via your email address.
Did all of that and it still did not work. Oh well. Itās just that the normal way is kind of inconvenient with have to wait for and enter a code each time but at least It works. Guess Iām stuck with that. Thanks anyway
There is something going on with your GitHub account or credentials. Iām sorry that I donāt know enough about GH integration to help you troubleshoot beyond this. At least you can still log into freeCodeCamp though.
Happy coding!
