Everyone around me is saying that I shouldn’t take an internship opportunity offered to me because “you’d never be able to make it in the real world.” And tbh they are right because of my poor mental health. It is a dream come true, but I think the road should end here.
I am completely happy to work retail for the rest of my life. I have a different mindset than most people about jobs. So just not sure if coding should end here or not. I like it so much, but everyone around me is very aggressive and wants me DOWN.
Taking this internship can be an opportunity to see how you deal with that environment, and if it does not work out you then return to what you were doing, but it’s an opportunity to see how you manage.
You don’t even have to complete it if in the middle you find out you can’t continue.
Great advice! I will take this to heart because that’s so true- the internship WOULD SEE AND TEST how I fare in that environment. AND it would let me know if I genuinely like coding as a REAL JOB or not. THANKS FOR THE REPLY!!!
yes, you will not know until you try! and however it ends, you will have tried and learned something more about yourself
it will be a new environment and it can be stressfull, so whatever structure you have to help with your mental health, you may want to rely on it a bit more when starting out
It is hard for me in my case because I am a fish out of water and was homeschooled and I have actually never had a job before in my life. But yes so true. I won’t know until I try so just try and see where it goes!
My past friends recently left me because I guess I am not smart enough or of status so I am still very hurt by that and I hope I can prove to myself that I am enough. Also thank you ILM for always helping me when I got stuck on the easiest FCC exercises
Thank you Teller I appreciate that and your advice for before the project was super super helpful and that’s why she loved it so much! I’m so glad I listened to you and got your feedback in the first place.
That’s true and I am so grateful for all of those, but I can’t help but compare to others online. It’s a typical teenage and young adult problem I guess and I hope it dims.
