Terminal is malfunctioning

My terminal is messed up. When I cd Desktop, or just about any other file, it doesn’t show any recent files, and only shows old files that were deleted over a year ago.

This behavior began after I updated the operating system, was getting an error and found several articles saying to reinstalled the xcode command line tools to fix the error.

try typing the cd desktop in lower case

I get the same results no matter the case.

or you can try cd ~/Desktop
