"Tribute Page" - my first project

Hello Eveyone,

Myself Indrajit. I’ve been doing “Responsive Web Development” course for a couple of weeks. Today I’ve created a Tribute website as my first project in freecodecamp. Basically, the website is based on the short timeline of Sir Isaac Newton. It took me about 4 hours to complete the whole work. You are cordially invited to visit my work.

Hope you guys like it.

Last but not the least, feel free to constructively criticize on my work that will make me more accurate. :innocent:

thank you. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Welcome to the forums @Indrajit. Your page looks good. Some things to revisit;

  • Codepen provides the boilerplate for you. It only expects the code you’d put within the body element in the HTML editor. (No need to include the body tags). For anything you want to add to the <head> element click on the ‘Settings’ button, then HTML and add it into the ‘Stuff for <head>’ box.
  • Run your HTML code through the W3C validator.
    • There are HTML syntax/coding errors you should be aware of and address.
  • Accessibility is about being accessible to all users. Review the giving meaningful text to links lesson. For a more thorough explanation read Web Accessibility in Mind.
    • click here” is not accessible

Thank you @Roma . I am actually used to with vs code. So, I coded entire the website in vs code and paste that in codepen. But it runs smoothly. sorry, I don’t get your 2nd point.
and I have changed my code a little bit as you instructed. Moreover, thanks again for your suggestion.

You don’t understand about running your HTML code through the W3C validator?
It’s pretty straightforward. Copy your HTML code and paste it into the provided link. See the coding error and correct it.

You should read the provided links, “more information” is also not accessible.

Hi @Indrajit !

Welcome to the forum!

Congrats on finishing your first project!

In my opinion, I think having a lighter background for the text would be easier to read.
You might consider something like this.

I get your point @Roma and I will consider your words for my next projects. Thank you

Thank you @jwilkins.oboe for your suggestion. Actually, I was intended to make the project with a darkish theme. That’s why, I use dark colors.

If you are going for a dark theme then you might look into maybe playing around with white text.

There is a good table in this article that shows the levels of contrast and what’s good and bad.

It is totally fine to have your own theme but you also want to make sure your text is easy and friendly to read :grinning:

Just something to think about as you build more projects.
