Turn an Image into a Link It is saying my a element isn't closed. If I ad the carrot, it denies me based on not having the link nested?

Tell us what’s happening:

Your code so far

<link href="https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Lobster" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
<style>
  .red-text {
    color: red;
  }

  h2 {
    font-family: Lobster, Monospace;
  }

  p {
    font-size: 16px;
    font-family: Monospace;
  }

  .thick-green-border {
    border-color: green;
    border-width: 10px;
    border-style: solid;
    border-radius: 50%;
  }

  .smaller-image {
    width: 100px;
  }
</style>

<h2 class="red-text">CatPhotoApp</h2>

<p>Click here for <a href="#"cat photos<img src:"https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat">/a></p>

<img class="smaller-image thick-green-border" src="https://bit.ly/fcc-relaxing-cat" alt="A cute orange cat lying on its back. ">

<p class="red-text">Kitty ipsum dolor sit amet, shed everywhere shed everywhere stretching attack your ankles chase the red dot, hairball run catnip eat the grass sniff.</p>

A link needs to be closed with a </a>.

In order for something to be nested inside a link, it needs to be between the <a ....> and the </a>.

#3

you need to nest the IMG … inside… the anchor?

<a href="#">
<img src="https://bit.ly/fcc-running-cats"
     alt="Three kittens running towards the camera. ">
</a>

#4

As Xija said, right now you have:

a/>

Instead of :

</a>

#5

Just a terminology note, but a caret is this: ^.

These: <> are called “angle brackets” or “less-than/greater-than signs” (depending on what they’re being used for).

Sideways carrot…
I fixed it. I just reset it and copied the text in the same spot, and it worked out fine. thank you all for the input. I detest getting stuck.
