Understand the logic and flow behind the projects

So far I’ve done the String Manipulation by Building a Cipher, and the rest of the 5 projects that follow it. Although I finished them, and I’m redoing some of them right now, I still can’t understand the logic behind although I can follow the instruction just fine, and go to the next step easily, any tips
