Updated portfolio with Bootstrap 4 (alpha) - would love some ideas :)

I’ve freshened up my portfolio and hosted it and all my project pages on Github pages (with a free student domain name picked up from Namecheap!)

I’ve implemented the alpha version of the newest Bootstrap and I like how it looks, but I’d like to hear your thoughts about a couple of things to help improve it:

  1. I’m terrible at writing self-promotional copy! I write tonnes usually, but when it’s egocentric I clam up…any ideas?

  2. I have no idea what would make visually appealing images for the backend portfolio ‘cards’, since the projects just output JSON objects…again, any ideas would be appreciated!

Here’s the new portfolio: http://jacksonbates.me

If you are interested, here’s what it looked like when it was in it’s Bootstrap 3 / Codepen incarnation: http://codepen.io/Malgalin/full/ONgawY/

ps: I’m a bit embarrassed about the quality of the actual projects, since my eye for design and taste in general is pretty abysmal!

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

I loved your portfolio. One thing you can do is implement smooth scrolling so that when the user navigates to different parts of your page, it doesn’t directly jump to that section instead there will be a smooth delayed transition which looks pretty cool. Also i liked the way you used different icons for the languages or framework you used in your projects. Good job!

Thanks! I implement smooth scroll like you suggested and I think it looks a lot nicer as a result. Thanks for the tip - I appreciate you taking the time to look and give feedback

Looks great!

Pleasure is all mine:)

Hi Jackson,

For your backend portfolio images use can use a very simple flow diagram with the logos of each technology that you used for each project.
