Hello everyone,
I’m an English learner and have been learning Python for the past 5 years on/off.
So I’ve used AI to help me with my 1st project, like heavily. I can tell with honesty that the code wasn’t written by me because I was trying to understand how things work. My 2nd project, maybe 30-40% was AI. My 3rd, I’ll say 10% AI. So now I’m on the fourth one, and I just have read the “Academic Honesty Policy”, and idk what to do, like is it okay for the past projects, or shall I create a new account, which will reset all my progress? I’m stuck, or can I contact support to reset the projects so I can redo them myself??
You can remake and resubmit the projects yourself. That’s what I’d do.
But like how ik this question is kinda stupid hhh but pls spoon feed me hhh. Can I use VSCode instead of the FCC editor??
you can code where you want, just know that you still need to go back to freeCodeCamp’s editor for submitting
If you want to use AI to learn to code you should ask it advice and what you should do or explanations of code or methods etc.
Don’t bother submitting code that it’s written for you. What’s the point of that?
You can go back and resubmit projects any time no one needs to reset it for you.
Just keep in mind your goal when you using AI: Learning to code.
well im not telling ai to code for me just when im stuck i ask for explaination of why this error, explaine what im supposed to do in this task… cuz after all i want to be able to code on my own not to keep relying on ai, as mentioned above 1 st project was 100% ai, not that i went o ai and said here is the task takle it for me then i copy paste no, i was askin how to do each task and explaination… not just copy past note: i dont write a line till i realy know what it does in my script. So now I get that it should be as im the one who formatted the code, not just following ai advice
I don’t really know what you want and your statements aren’t really adding up for me, sorry.
I hope your questions have been answered in this thread.
ohh for the part
I can tell with honesty that the code wasn’t written by me
i meant was just following ai guides.
and i think i got my answer i just have to redo my projects 100% by myself, and if im stuck come and ask here "excuse my english as i stated
I’m an English learner
there is also an English course on freeCodeCamp, for when you need a break from coding
yep saw it yesterday on mobile app which is good thing, planing to start cuz its really kinda hard to keep up with coding vocabulary so im sure it will be helpful, thank you
You don’t need to create a new account
. The honesty policy is mainly about making sure you are the one learning, not about punishing past mistakes. Many people use AI at first and then gradually reduce it, just like you’re doing. If you want, you can reset and redo specific projects from your account—no need to start over with a new one. And if you’re still unsure, reaching out to support is always a good option.
I would recommend strongly against being a “many people using AI” if your goal is to actually learn.
