Why does the link element have an href of “./styles.css”, instead of the usual and expected “styles.css”?

on some systems (eg. unix/linux as most webservers are) you reference the location of a file that is in the same directory as the index.html by saying “./” in front of the file name.
I am not sure why the curriculum writer decides to show this detail here versus earlier in the course…
