Hi everyone,
I’ve been working on improving website performance and have already covered the usual basics such as compressing images, reducing unnecessary JavaScript, minifying CSS, using caching, and improving Core Web Vitals.
I’m curious about what developers usually focus on after these initial optimizations.
For example, when a website is still slower than expected, how do you identify the real bottleneck?
Do you normally start with:
-
Chrome DevTools and the Performance panel
-
Lighthouse or PageSpeed Insights
-
Network request analysis
-
JavaScript profiling
-
Database/API response times
-
Server-side performance
-
Third-party scripts
-
CDN and caching configuration
I’d also be interested in hearing about situations where a website had a good Lighthouse score but still felt slow to real users.
What performance issue have you found most difficult to diagnose, and what tools or techniques helped you identify it?
