What do you all think of a self-hosted category for independence from platforms?

I’ve long loved r/selfhosted on Reddit but ironically it’s on a proprietary platform.

What if we created such a discussion here?

Personally I love self-hosting as much of my tooling as possible and I imagine @Naomi is the same.

If we start sharing our tool choices and DIY self-host hacks, would you all share yours?

Yea definitely, that would be a good initiative. I recently got a VPS server and would love to share new things which I learned over here. Recently I got to know that we can create something like Netlify with help of Coolify.

I would absolutely love this! Good, affordable hosting is getting harder and harder to find these days with the demand for compute rising with AI. Self-hosting has always been both super interesting and a little intimidating for me. I would really enjoy an fCC category for it!

Primal is just one client which you could use to access the nostr network. Relays are run by users so it’s the open-source, self-hosted version of twitter maybe. Your profile is controlled by a cryptographic key which you control.
