What do you think about the new look forum?

Here’s an opportunity to comment and give your views about the new look of the forum.

What do you like, not like, miss, or would like to see added to the forum?

The new forum is way better imo and feels even more like a community. Old forum was actually fine but I think this new setup makes more sense.

And I’m realizing today was when I started FCC : ). Wow this has been such a journey and a crazy one to me.

I’m a little concerned that it’s going to be difficult to find help now that the various programming language and dev course topics have been moved under one section of the forum using tags to identify which course section is being talked about.

While I’m sure searching will still probably be the best method to find things, it just concerns me that requests for help might get missed if they’re all under one area.

I think its part of streaming lining so things are less cluttered.

I also was hesitant about each programming language losing its subcategory.

If you cannot find what you are looking for, then feel free to start a new post. What with curriculum changes, older posts may no longer be relevant, as workshop step numbers may change, and labs are updated.

Happy coding

I agree, that’s the only thing I don’t like. I think there should be a mandatory tag for the curriculum help category for each of the course categories.

this would require a restructure of the code used to create forum posts, so if you want to propose this, the right place is an issue on github

Hi @a1legalfreelance

Check out the search tool:

Here is the direct link for searching tags:
https://forum.freecodecamp.org/search?expanded=true&search_type=categories_tags

Or change the search term in the following link from Python to the tag you are searching for:
https://forum.freecodecamp.org/search?expanded=true&q=Python&search_type=categories_tags

You could save them in the favourites list for quick access.

How can this search help find all JavaScript-related topics if the category is “Curriculum Help” and there is no associated “javascript” tag?

Hi @dhess

Some of the curriculum posts don’t appear to have tags. But some do.

Perhaps staff can enlighten us.

Try this link:
https://forum.freecodecamp.org/search?expanded=true&q=javascript

those are posts migrated from the previously existing category, or a user or mod labelled them

I’ve had a quick look through the search list @Teller linked to. The recent ‘Curriculum help’ posts without a javascript tag, either say “java” or “javascript” somewhere in the post (eg on the github link, or in the code itself such as the Teacher Bot" one for favourite programming language.

Yes; thanks. The addition of “javascript” in the GitHub link should bring back the correct results regardless of a missing tag.
