What is the best approach to learn JavaScript and ES6?

I started JavaScript Algorithms and Data Structures but my brain literally froze when I started ES6. Those of us who were new in programming when enrolled in this freeCodeCamp and have made it in JavaScript, how did you maneuver until you mastered ES6. Is there any other simpler way to learn ES6?
